The myth of spot reduction

Spot reduction is the age-old misbelief that exercising a certain area will reduce fat specifically in that zone. For example, that doing hundreds of sit-up or crunches will diminish abdominal fat deposits. While regular exercise is generally good for your overall wellness, it does not work for spot reduction. You may tone muscles and lose some weight, but fat loss from physical activity occurs all over.
